I graduated from Birmingham University in 1997 and have worked at College Road Dental Practice for 20 years, leaving in May 2019.

In June 2019, we were really excited to become the new owners of Barnt Green Dental.

I have a strong commitment to ongoing postgraduate study, I have attended and completed post-graduate restorative courses in London at the Eastman Dental Institute and the Royal College of Surgeons.

I am passionate about all aspects to dentistry but have a particular interest in root canal therapy and the restoration of the worn dentition.

I also work at the University of Birmingham, where I supervise and teach undergraduate dental students on the Endodontic (root canal) clinic.

I am married to Nicky and we have two children – Isabelle and Gabrielle. My interests outside of work are DIY, gardening, walking and as any parent will know and sympathise – taxi driving!

I qualified from Birmingham University in 1999 and have worked with Damian, at College Road Dental Practice for 15 years, leaving in May 2019.

In June 2019, we were really excited to become the new owners of Barnt Green Dental.

I have completed many postgraduate courses including two courses in aesthetic and restorative dentistry lead by 2 of the country’s leading dentists. My interests include complex restoration of worn and missing teeth, veneers and cosmetic dentistry. I also enjoy restoring implants.

I like to provide dentistry in a happy, relaxed and well-informed environment. I take pleasure in helping nervous patients (adults and children) to overcome their fear of dentistry.

I also work at the University of Birmingham, where I supervise and teach undergraduate dental students whilst they treat their own patients.

I am married to Damian, we have two daughters and I enjoy walking, skiing, outdoor training, house renovation and DIY.

PS I am the principle taxi driver in the Kavanagh household!

I qualified from Kings College London in 2002, where I was awarded the “Patient Care and Motivation Prize”.

Before gaining my Diploma in Dental Hygiene, I already had experience in the dental profession as a qualified dental nurse.

I have a caring nature, and work in a thorough but gently way. My special area of interest is caring for nervous patients and patients with special needs.

In February 2019, I spent two weeks in Uganda, with a team of volunteers, providing much needed dental care to those living in remote communities, slum areas of large cities and orphanages. It was a truly rewarding experience and I shall continue to volunteer with the Dentaid charity.

I regularly attend seminars and courses to keep up to date with my continued professional development.

Outside of work I enjoy spending time with family and friends, running, travel and hotpod yoga!

I look forward to welcoming you

I graduated from Leeds Dental Institute in 1996 with Honours. After initially working in practice, followed by various hospital training posts, I undertook my Orthodontic Specialist Registrar Training at Birmingham Dental Hospital. During this time I also gained a Masters in Philosophy research degree in Orthodontics. I completed my orthodontic training in 2003 and gained my Membership in Orthodontics from the Royal College of Surgeons. Following this, I completed two years higher training in orthodontics to gain my consultant status.

I also work as a Consultant Orthodontist at a local hospital as well as working at Barnt Green Dental. My areas of interest are contemporary adult orthodontics and treatment of complex malocclusions. I really enjoy getting to know my patients during treatment and creating new smiles for them.

I provide a range of orthodontic treatment options, including tooth coloured braces, Invisalign and metal braces.

I am married with a young son. Outside of work I enjoy aerobics, running and family time – usually freezing at the side of a rugby pitch watching my son burn off energy!

I graduated in 2017 from the vibrant city of Liverpool and once I completed my studies, returned to my home town of Birmingham. I have a keen interest in keeping up to date with evidence based dentistry and have spent the last 4 years working in general dental practice honing these skills.

I am shortly due to start a year long hands on course with Dr. Christopher Orr. This course focuses on one of my main areas of clinical interest- cosmetic and aesthetic restorative dentistry.

I particularly enjoy helping to care for anxious patients and my experiences providing conscious sedation mean I am well equipped to provide care for patients who may be a bit more nervous about having dental treatment by prioritising their comfort.

In my spare time, I enjoy cooking; baking; spending time with family and my two cats as well as enjoying the refreshing countryside and coastal walks whenever the British weather allows!
